Prospect Flash

I’ve always wanted to put together a photo collection of odd cemetery names ever since I was 21 and encountered New Prospect Cemetery. When I read it on the fly, my mind thought it said New Prospective Cemetery. If only! But since then I have paid attention to those road signs on small Texas farm roads. On the way back from a wedding in College Station I decided to start my collection.   However, I think they came out a little too fashion shootish for what I had in mind. Maybe I need to buy a tilt 24 lens.  J and I wanted to practice a new flash technique. You can see our experiments here in these images.  I thought J should put on his suit jacket but ah! he had left it in CS…

This was taken right after the sun went down (a minute past). More natural light, less flash.

9 minutes passed sundown. 11:11

In this one we tightened down the shutter and added more flash. 11:12

Just a bit of different framing and posing.

J was right to direct the flash up more. It was catching the grass too much. However, I like it in the ones of just him; it looks he is being lit by a car driving by.

I was glad I had been reviewing posing just the day before! I don't usually get in front of the camera so it was nice to be prepared. I'm actually working on a guide for my clients so they can practice too!

It took J a little longer to get happy with his pose. He stole my sunglasses because he thought he couldn't look serious enough with his hair. 8:24
